Short answer: No. Google says running ads does not improve your organic rankings, and it does not accept payment to rank a site higher in normal results. Ads and SEO are separate systems. They can still help each other in indirect ways: ads can bring visitors, give you keyword data and build brand awareness.
In this guide
Ads vs organic results
Google Ads puts your page in the paid spots, marked as ads. Organic results are the normal listings, ranked by Google’s systems. Paying for ads does not move your organic position up or down. You can read how organic ranking works in my guide to search engine algorithms.
How ads can help SEO indirectly
- Keyword data. See which search terms lead to clicks and sales, then write organic pages for them.
- Message testing. Test titles and descriptions in ads before you use them in your pages.
- Brand awareness. More people who know your name may search for it and link to you. This is a side effect, not a ranking factor.
- Fast traffic. Ads bring visitors while SEO is still growing.
When to use ads, SEO or both
- Ads first: you need leads this week and have a budget
- SEO first: you want steady traffic over time and can wait for results
- Both: you want fast results now and a stronger base later

FAQ
Do Google Ads help SEO?
Not directly. They do not change your organic ranking.
Can I pay Google to rank higher in normal results?
No. Google does not accept payment for organic ranking.
Does clicking on ads affect rankings?
No. Clicks on ads do not raise organic results.
Should I stop ads if I rank well?
It depends on your goals and data. Some businesses keep both to cover more of the results page.
Which is cheaper, ads or SEO?
Ads cost money for every click. SEO costs time and work first, but traffic can keep coming without paying per click.
