How to use the Background Remover
- Upload or drop a JPG, PNG, WebP or other image. It stays in your browser.
- The background color is detected automatically. Adjust tolerance and edge softness, or pick another color from the image.
- Use the Erase and Restore brushes to fix any area that is not right.
- Choose a new background, set the size and download your image.
Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. The image is processed inside your browser. It is never uploaded or stored.
Does it use AI?
No. It removes the colors that match the background, so it works best on plain or evenly colored backgrounds such as studio shots, white walls or green screens. For busy backgrounds, use the Erase and Restore brushes.
Which image formats can I upload?
JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF, plus any other format your browser can open. You can download PNG (transparent), JPG or WebP.
Why did my large photo get smaller?
To keep your browser fast, images larger than 2,500 pixels on the longest side are reduced before editing.
How do I keep a transparent background?
Choose No background and download as PNG or WebP. JPG does not support transparency.
